I am so glad you are here!

Hello, I’m Susan Howells. I’m a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and the owner and therapist at Willow and Stone Counseling LLC.

My mental health career started initially as an EMT and Emergency Room staff member, working with individuals and families on some of the worst days of their lives. Through these experiences I developed a passion for mental health and wellness and saw firsthand the shortages of mental health care options for patients and fellow colleagues alike. This led me to completing my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Boise State University, my master’s degree in psychology at Grand Canyon University, and my post master's in clinical counseling at Antioch University. I have been practicing since 2019 and have worked in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, crisis centers, and school settings providing therapy to children, teens, adults, couples, and families. I previously was a Clinical Director, and as a Board Approved State Supervisor, I had the honor to provide supervision for interns and therapists. Occasionally I provide critical incident support for community crisis, as well as offer lectures at local universities.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and occasionally getting out to travel and see the world. I am a dog person, and have the most adorable Lhasopoo, Oliver. I do my best to keep the plants alive in my house and in the garden. I’m introverted, play the piano, and am a sucker for hot cheetohs.

I believe in the importance of being an authentic, messy, still figuring it out human. I want to hear the long version of your story. So bring the scary, the hard, the confusion, and the hurt, and let’s get started!
